I'm actually surprised to hear about Canada banning grass in the 20's. It has always been my belief that the outlawing of cannabis related to DuPont's creation of nylon and the subsequent actions of the US FBI/IRS in the mid 30's. (making it a money question, nothing about health or lifestyle).

 

Mr DuPont (rather than the company, but it's same/same) was a mate of (was Hoover head of FBI?) and wanted to discourage use of hemp fibre 'coz he'd invented nylon.

Prohibition is bullshit, its got more to do with rich people making even more money, by having it banned. Religious wackos rising to power on a safe anti drugs campaign.

 

Cannabis, and other Drugs were useful during the Coldwar. Especially in Afghanistan during the 80's when the Russian invaded. The Yanks would sell the Afghans weapons, and the only way they could pay was with hash, cannabis, and opium. which was shipped to Pakistan to be sold on the streets.

 

Not to mention the USAF had out top quality speed to their pilots, during the Gulf wars

 

all this has happened while Prohibition has been in effect
