Hi all just a quick question about this This fan HERE

 

Is it a cheap and nasty ?

 

should I look to paying up to $200.00 or so and settle for a reliable brand name like spectreum' or 'vortex' - or less the lesser quality like 'Easy air.

 

I am quite taken with this one one Here .

 

Its an 'Mixed Flow' Inline fan - says high pressure/capacity. ? slick little unit

 

What do you fan freaks think ?

Hey Nitty, ball bearing is a good start, couldn't see where they were made. That might be a good indication.

Mixed flow are the bomb, but there are cheaper Mixedflows available on eBay. If the other fan is in fact from Airsales it will be good. If not you'd be taking a chance in my opinion.

Electrical wholesale suppliers like Ideal and L&H sell industrial quality fans with ducting for under $150. The online and physical hydro stores make a killin` on the mark-up.

 

Must be the fear of others knowing anything... Hydro shop sells fans for $229 without duct, good fan too... thing is L&H are 10min walk up the road, selling same unit for $99+GST.

 

Ya gotta shop around...

As gills said, get a ball bearing one that has a continual use rating. I have a 250mm one made by Fantech, the motor is german built 'n it hasn't missed a beat in the 2 years i've had it.. touchwood.

 

Westaflex also make a pretty good fan as well..

I have a Westaflex 200mm fan, very happy with it so far. Maybe a little bit loud, could build

a box for it tho if needed.

Depends on their electric motors, good elec motors are made in germany. Crap ones come from china. Never seen the one from the link (hyper) before. Probly crap.
