Snakes Alive!

Recommended Posts

i'll call it a red belly black snake !

lol when I first moved to the hills I was told the local snakes included yellow bellied blacks, red bellied blacks, tigers on the flat country, and the odd copper head... too cold supposedly for browns. Was told not to worry about the yellow belly's, numerous, but they weren't a threat to people.

Turns out there aren't any yellow belly's around here at all, or offically anywhere for that matter, the snake the cockies were calling a yellow belly is actually an eastern brown. Adaptation to the local climate means the brown snakes are black rather than brown.

I'm surprised we haven't lost more farmer's considering the "local knowledge" is seriously flawed.
