Nitrogen

Will my plants struggle to flower if the Nitrogen in the soil remains high all the way through flowering?

will the pistols burn?(I think I have seen this already)They are in 2L pots and I think they have been getting a little bit of nitrogen burn lately on leaf tips unless my light has scorched them?

possibly because of the worms that live in the pots maybe they have made the soil too rich??

Hi John

When one grows maize, and the nitrogen level is too high, the plant will form more leafy material and less cobs - ideal for feed for cattle but less ideal for human food. I presume this will also happen with other crops.

You can try to flush out some of the nitrogen using a weak solution of fertilizer containing more P and K.

2 Liter pots sounds a bit small for flowering - somewhere I read that one aught to use 1 gallon for every month the plant is in the pot.

I prefer 10 liter grow bags.

When your pot is too small, the leaves will show signs of stress and flowering will be slow (and small).

hope this helps
