Strain Hunters

Recommended Posts

yeah it got me wondering if it is a doco or an info-mercial.

I got the impression it's more of info-mercial. About mid way, when the skinny fella got a hard on over the branching on one particular plant. To me it seems they're possibly more concerned of the marketing aspects of the plant, more so than actually rounding up and saving good original genectics. Also, the last bit of marketing on the end by the dude leading mission couldn't help but mention what businesses he owns back home.

Fairly good job of masking it as a doco, but their underlying intentions surfaced a few times. Here's hoping they did eventually hit onto something good all round for everyone. :bongon:

You are right Indy. Its definitely info-mercial. Arjan and Franco are from Greenhouse seeds in the Netherlands (I think Arjan is the owner). They have a few of these types of vids floating around the net. They cop a fair bit of shit because they are so commercial but I haven't tried any of their varieties.

Some of the commentary is a bit nauseous and frankly bullshit. If they are truly there to bring us all Malawi gold thats great. Somehow I think it will be released as a hybrid. Malawi gold is available at various seedbanks so I can't believe their claim of being the only ones to do this.

Nice footage of the plants and country though.

Yeah those pair are a laugh, don't take them too seriously lol

I suppose if you've made a heap of money ripping off other people's work(Arjen's Haze for example) by charging top dollar you could afford to call yourself a strain hunter and go on an African Safari lol lol

I got hold of some Malawi seeds(as well as some Swazi and Durban Poison from KwaZulu-Natal via a South African internet aquaintance on another site oooo about 6 years ago, one of the mods here has some, tourists get sold cobs of Malawi wrapped in corn leaves, this isn't anything new of course.

At least someone is doing it at a breeder level though(different to the Haze bothers and their Columbian crosses, read up on these guys as well as Sam Skunkman, D J Short for true pioneers) which can't be all bad, as long as you can put up with the underlying greedy sales pitch and pouncy accents :bongon:
