STAWELL police were late yesterday interviewing a 57-year old Stawell man after seizing a number of mature cannabis plants from a house in Napier Street.

Police executed a search warrant on the house at 1pm after an anonymous tip from the public.

Sergeant Michael Collins from Stawell police said cannabis plants grown hydroponically were found during the raid.

Sgt Collins said the drug bust was a success.

"It is more drugs taken off the street," Sgt Collins said.

"We had three officers serve the warrant and we had no problems with the man, who came with us willingly.

"The important part of this operation was that the public helped us with the information."

Sgt Collins said police expected the man to be charged on summons to appear at Stawell Magistrates Court at a later date.

Sgt Collins said he expected the man to be charged with cultivating, using and possessing a drug of dependence.
