question on ventilation

Recommended Posts

hey growers,

I was wondering if a 150mm inline fan (with a few feet of 150mm ducting) pushing out a odorsok and pulling through a 250w cooltube be sufficient exhaust for a relatively small cab? this is just for a flowering box, ill do veg seperately. would prefer not to have a separate fan for the cooltube if possible, as space is limited. also have the benefit of indoor ac in the summer

anyone with similar experience? cheers

well there was a guy locally who came home for lunch one day to find the fire brigade the police and ambulance at his place.. the fan siezed up and started a fire.. which meant his dope got ruined and he also got busted.. plus his house needed fixing.

Axials are good for moving air of no resistance as soon as they have resistance they spin the same and make the same noise but air flow slows as they just spin on themselves , if you need to push against resistance or vacuum you need a centrifugal , as far as noise goes , a large centrifugal with a $30 bunnings fan controller wired in so that the fan is backed down to balance your needs it will reduce noise heaps , this and acoustic ducting basically kills the noise , and the benefit is while its quieter it still has loads of torque which is extremely important when going through carbon filters etc .

thanks for the replies guys,

yeh i might end up going with a centrifugal one, just a bit disappointing since i got the axial inline for free.

my only concern with centrifugals was that i heard theyd be quite a bit louder than the axial, but i seem to be getting mixed information. would a centrifugal with the speed dampened be comparable to an axial in noise?

also mrsmokey, you reckon a 125mm cent. would do the job, any chance a 100mm would? as i said its only a small cab

thanks again for the advice
