Mr P,

In one of the pics you have the control bucket in the middle of the plant buckets, is it going to stay like that or was it just the way they were when you took the pic? If you are going to keep it in the middle I think you might have problems accessing it when the plants get to any size and it'd be better to have the control bucket on the outside for easy checks 'n' top ups lol

I'm gunna sound really dumb here but, I still don't understand why you have a re-circulating system with buckets as the the nutes will be mixing via the drainage tubes so all you'd need as far as I can see is an air line going to each bubbler?

Is it best to secure the airline to the bottom of the bubbler or let it hang free in the solution?

Buster.

Hey Buster, pipeman.. B) @ the bathtub... just bleach an scrub I suppose.. going to get some 13mm valves for the control bucket so drainage and refilling will be much simpler..hehe

yep, the control bucket is in the middle and the plants will probably grow right over the top of it... oh well...I'm hoping to vege them to about 3 feet before flowering and give them an undercut so I can still reach the control..when I get the valves hopefully all I'll have to do is turn two valves to either drain, fill or recirculate.. not much else is needed hopefully.. I'll try and get a pic up in the next hour or so... All I wanna do atm is peace out..hehe lol

Hey Putard, that control bucket is going to be hard to access by the time the plants are two feet high, it really neds to be off to the side. If you mix your nutrients in the bath tub you are not going to get several litres from the bottom of the bath, I use a couple of drums to mix my nutrients in.

Thanks Tom, I actually did think of that ... lol I'll probably waste about 5-10 liters of nutes everytime... but it sure beats hell out of carting those buckets of nutes around...

btw... just checked number two.. it's already got roots in the nutrient... that's great.

I filled the buckets so the nutrient level came to about the first level of clay balls in the net pots..

When transplanting I mixed a bucket of ph water and dunked the coke bottles in the water... held them under and turned them upside down... the perlite floated to the top of water and the vermiculite sank. It was fairly easy to shake most of the perlite out of the roots... bit of roots came loose but hasn't cause any probs yet.. in between that and scooping the perlite out of the bucket with a spare net pot, the whole process took about 5 mins per plant...

When the roots where seperated I put them in 140 x 100mm net pots.. I had put in a layer of clay on the bottom that had been dipped in the water... then i held the plant to where I thought the level should be and filled in with extra clay.. then I dunked this in the water and jiggled a bit to settle in the roots with the clay balls.. so far, so good.

This morning I had a really bad coughing fit... just had 4 bucket bongs lol

I also noticed that the top of number one has gone all yellow...

It's only happened to one leaf on number two... but I also noticed some red colouration on the underside of one of it's leaves I pruned..

Is the yellow nute burn? And is the redness a defficiency of some kind?
