Plants Being Attacked

Recommended Posts

the bites looks like some sort of catapilla munching out on the leaves... the dead patches looks like a nutrient spill of some sort...

could also be.. the buckets are too small.. maybe transplant them into the ground or go for some bigger pots.. hows the drainage?.. its a good idea to have some rocks in he bottom of the pot so the medium at the bottom drains well.. other wise it goes acidic...

looking pretty healthy tho.. gonna be some nice looking plants i think...

Id suggest having your plants in a saucer of water, like a moat.... I believe that stops most slugs and whatnot.

That sounds like a good idea Gibbo.

Haven't had a spare minute in quite some time so here is the rest of the winter grow story...

Plant 1 - The shorter of the two which started flowering a few days earlier

&

Plant 2 - Mr Tall

Picture - The pair

Plant 1's problems include - Pest nibbles, a 1 day out break of tiny caterpillars and EXTREME purpling of buds, leaf veins, undersides, stems, etc. and STRANGE rotting

Picture - Poor example of the purpling (much more extensive than that shows)

Picture - Example of the post caterpillar damage and the strange rot that accompanied it (also slightly visible the purple of the calyxs and stems)

Plant 2's problems include - Yellowing of some leaves before a transplant (which fixed it), MUCH MORE pest damage compared to plant 1, slower flowering.

Picture - Example of the bastard slugs that come out at night

Now here is the clincher of this tale. If anyone payed attention to the weather on the weekend you may have noticed WA experienced a bit of rain and wind... This is four days later... (yes they have been like that since Saturday) ...they were even more hunched the day after it happened....

The massive down pour from Saturday was the catalyst for their hunching but now they are dry they simply can't get back up I suspect due to the flower weight.... haven't had time to stake them up... might stake plant 2 for an extra week or two so it can fill out but plant 1 seems close to ready...

Picture - The pair now.

This last picture is a close up of Plant 1. You can see the extent of the purpling effect both in the previous picture comparing it to plant 2 and here on the underside of some of the leaves (in real life close up even the buds are very purplish).

Query time...

1.

Should I harvest plant 1? My gut instinct says yes because they are at about week 8 of flowering and I have received a 30x jewelers loupe since I last posted however it doesn't reveal as many secrets as I thought. You can zoom in on the trichomes and see thats what it is but as for looking into it to determine its cloudyness? forget about it. I suspect that is a luxury you enjoy when you grow potent indoor hydroponic bud with giant crystals everywhere and perhaps a 100x loupe. This baby just shows you them a little larger than the eye.

Does anybody know what that strange looking rot is? (4th picture of this post)

Thanks Guys

p.s

To clarify NONE of these disasters affected the flowers at all, from the rot to the pests, everything was an attack on the leaves... so thats a win I guess...
