Light versus Yield

A `freind' has a 2.5 metre by 2.5 metre mesh system with 3 plants covering the entire mesh system...current yield is 3 pounds 5 ounces with 2800 watts of light and superbud....If the light was increased would there be a noticable yield difference. All the lights are above the plants.

2.5m x 2.5m is around 64 square feet, 64 x 50w = 3,200w, you are a little under the optimum but as you are growing scrog light penetration is not quite as important so, as tboat says, increasing the wattage probably wouldn't make that much difference, except to the power bill that is.

Swing things it also depends on the spread of the light ie. 5 600watt lights would produce more than 3 1000watt lights, even though the amount of light is the same.

But colas directly under a 1000watt light are allways the biggest and the most hard, but a more even spread of light will produce more end yeild results per watt.

Thanks for all your replies...Superbud is being used as an additive on top of the normal nutrient.....I have heard of cases where people use 8000 watts on 3 plants grown for 3 weeks...on top on the side and underneath for yields of 7 pounds and powerbills to match! but if your making 4k per pound then what does a 1000$ power bill matter?!

Work needs to be done on the circulating air...which is quite poor but...not humid....so its not that bad ;)

strain being used is shiva shanti..not a prolific yielder but is known for its smokability...got any ideas of bigger yielders...and dont say beans...or tomatoes.....as it would be fantastic to reach the 1 watt per gram equation!
