Need quick help please! Bulb question....

My 400w eye hortilux is making a noise, like a humming with a mix of some kind of metal. Its not a super loud noise, but i was wondering is this normal? I've been running this light bulb for about 3 months so its not old, and not brand new. Did i just never notice this before? Or is the bulb dying? Will it blow? Keep in mind, its not my ballast, my ballast has a hum but is far away. Thanks guys.

the noise is normal most people dont hear the noise because of other things like pumps,fans etc are louder if u shake a cold bulb with your hand you'll find you hear that rattle noise

ya thats what it sounds like, when u shake a bulb, mixed with some static hum. And i do have fans going, that may be why I've never noticed. I just was a little surprised i had never noticed it and was wondering if it was gonna pop or something. . I don't want a fire!

OK....here's another bulb question, I got one in the mail that has a piece of solder floating around inside the bulb - can it still be used?

u might just need to give the bulb a tighten too

with the pulsing and all they do untwist at times

may just be the bulb showing some ware..

how do u find the eye hortilux??

ive heard rave reviews overseas,but havent seen em in oz yet

I am overseas hah. But dont let that fool you, im not like most Americans, Im from my own country-California....hence...Anti-Bush.

 

Eye hortilux is an amazing bulb. I don't see why you cant just order one over the net to a freinds place or something. Shouldn't be too tough, or will it break?

you'll find the solder is common in side of the lamp i have a new HPS with the same thing it doesnt effect the lamp from working
