Flushing for beginners

Recommended Posts

Do you ajust the ph of the water when u flush and what to..? 5.8, 6.0 ?

Im using an aeroponic system that sprays a fine mist to the roots for 3 mins every 40 mins.. how long should i flush for..? 8, 24, 48hrs..?

Do i flush during the flowering stage as well..?

Are there any addatives that might help the flush process..?

Thanks.

no additives.. just plain water...

with aero theres no medium to flush.. so you shouldnt have the issues other hydro systems get... with this system to flush.. all id do is dump the resi water and just refresh with plain water... crank the misters for an hour or so.. maybe check the resi PPM's after 15-30mins..... maybe replace with fresh and repeat to get them down more... then dump that and replace with a nutrient mix and straight back onto youre normal feeding program..

if its the final flush youre talking about, then its not so much the roots your washing.. you really want the plant to use up what nutrients are held with in the plant.. nutrients only take around 3-5 days before you start seeing severe deficiencies.. so with an aero system id be draining the resi water when youve got around 5-7 days to go and replacing it with PH adjusted water.. and then onto youre normal feeding times.. check the PPm levels daily.. and depending on how high they are compared to the clean water thats gone in.. replace it.. .

flushing techniques vary from system to system.. but the basic principal is the same.. to flush the plant of the available nutrients held with in the plant itself.. or to flush the medium from toxicity... with aero you dont have the issue of getting the medium to a low enough level before you flush the plant.. ofc if theres nutrients left with in the medium the plant will, still be feeding from them.. thats a great advantage with aero systems.. no medium.. less to flush.. meaning you can have youre plant taking nutes right up to the week before harvest.. medium based systems need a lot more flushing...

i think the only way to find out which would be a better method of flushing would be to do a side by side comparison using the same strain, medium, etc. :peace: i have always flushed using pH ajusted water for fear of locking out nutrients and having the plant not being able to use the ones it already has stored up. but im not sure if it would even make a difference at all using water straight from the tap as im too much of a pussy to risk an ounce or more for a test :applause:
