when to plant

Recommended Posts

Never plant on a new or full moon. Always on a waxing if you want leafy growth, and always on a waning if you want to encourage fruiting/rooting. (what we want IMO.)

But that aside, plant out seedlings after a couple of weeks indoors or in a protected position in early spring. The last frosts will sort of determine when to plant, although I'm not sure what the climate is in the western suburbs, it's generally okay once the temps are regularly above 12 at night and there are plenty of sunny days.

There is no "safe" outdoor planting, or for that matter, indoor. Well, unless you live in Mount Cheyenne in Nevada and have a growroom for the US military of course. ;) Keep in mind that a plant growing outside and given good care will easily top 6ft if left to its own devices and not pruned/shaped during growth. They'll also make a very fragrant conversation piece amongst the neighbours.....

Moon cycles: Waxing is going towards full, waning away from full... remember D O C look at the moon, if it looks like a "D" it's approaching full, (waxing) the "O" is the full moon, And if it looks like a "C", it's going away from a full moon or waning.

That makes sense... right?
