Police chance upon $100,000 cannabis haul

July 20, 2007 - 6:07AM

Police have chanced upon $100,000 worth of cannabis after stopping a car for a random breath test on the NSW north coast.

Officers stopped the car travelling north on the Pacific Highway at Bulahdelah at 11pm (AEST) last night to breathalyse the driver.

Further checks led officers to search the vehicle, where in the boot they found 11.5kg of cannabis.

One of the two occupants, a 30-year-old man from Pimpana in Queensland was charged with supplying a prohibited drug.

The second man was charged over an outstanding warrant.

Both will appear at Taree Local Court later today.

"Cop price" analysis: 11.5kg = 25.35lbs. 25.35lbs for $100,000 = $3944/lb or $246/oz. For once an almost realistic "cop price" estimate- but ppl moving poundage like that are not likely to see that sort of money. Bulk rate of about ~$2K/lb sounds more likely.
