I've just been talking to admin and they say that they're doing an official review, so if you don't mind I'll just choose one person at random to be a kind of second voice on it all. In fairness it has to go to the first person to respond, so...if 'smoke p' would like to contact me?

Fair enough .. I guess Admin knows best aye :toke:

I didn't know it was a competition to reply first .. But Congratulations "Smoke P" :)

It wasn't a competition, I was going to just choose a few people at random, but...

And thanx for elaborating Meit ..

lol

I will shortly, it's just a bit hectic here at present. Do youwant the long version or the pithy, bullet pointed version?lol

Elaborating...lol

I've been taking cannabis for about 23 years, eating it (in reasonably large quantities) rather smoking it to aid mental exploration of the high 2 or 3 times a week. Over the last 15 years though I've moved onto smoking daily through an empty bong, which is slighly easier to regulate.

I've also been meditating for about 25 years, and got involved in it very much as a cynic rather than someone looking for peace and a 'path'. I didn't believe that any of the states or experiences that meditators said they had were anything other than a lot of wishful thinking and self-hypnosis ( I have an interest in suggestion/hypnosis and have a couple of books out on that too in another persona). Because of the situation I was in back then I could give a lot of time over to meditation, so I studied it in various forms and physically did it for most of each day. Despite what I felt about it all, I was eventually won over, and gave up work for a 6 years at one point so I could practice even more regularly. I became a Buddhist about 12 years ago and now mainly practice a form called Dzogchen. But even though I devote most of my time to it, I think of myself as an explorer of mind rather than somebody wanting to become spiritually pure - I'm a Buddhist primarily because I agree with the Buddhist version of reality.

As soon as I had my first experience of cannabis it was obvious that a lot of what I was accessing through meditation came far more easily when I was stoned in the right way. So I began interspersing meditation with stoned meditation, slowly building up a range of relevant techniques that I could use stoned and exploring what the high could and couldn't do, so much of what the book contains has been written from notes gleaned over the last 20-odd years.

None of what I write about in the book is rocket science, and the methods of exploration and deepening the high in it (apart from my own work on relaxation and pressure points) are all tried and tested within certain meditational schools. However, you don't have to learn to meditate to take advantage of the book, although it will help.

As for most of each day I'm observing or working with my mind in one way or another I may have had more opportunity to explore the high than most, and I've found that it's really easy to do simple things wrong to mess highs up - and equally simple to not do those things. I seriously think that there's something in there that will help every user enjoy cannabis more.

Thanks mate , that sounds very interesting ..

I'm no good at meditating myself .. always gotta be doing something :)

Probably the closest I get to meditation is in playing the guitar :toke:

Anyway , It's always good to get another take on things .. and it sounds as though you have a fairly unique perspective.

All the best lol

Budman :)

(P.s. was that the long version or the pithy one? heheh)

Aw come on, :)! Pithy mate!lol But you play guitar too? I do, love it. I know what you mean about losing your head in it, it's excellent.

This is a pretty cool day for me and I hope you don't mind me posting about the below. I am soooo wasted I can hardly see:) My book finally went on sale online.

We've been robbed of stock, lost a server, prosecuted a pirate, been accused of peddling a book no better than porn in a radio interview - but we are now finally, FINALLY up for business. Sorry for the wait and thanks to everyone here who's shown interest, 'How to Be Good at Being Stoned' can now be ordered online by credit card or PayPal, and it will be sent in plain cover, discreet billing, to almost anywhere in the world. It will not be available in bookshops in an effort to keep costs down.

Go to xxx.HeadstuffBooks.com if you'd like to order a copy. Go here if you want to know more:

Am I stoked?B)

Best,

what books would you recommend for meditation? lol

This one:)

I'm not sure of the best way to do this, but I've got a PDF here that contains the book's front cover, the introduction, and one short later chapter. Some of the things in it may not fully make sense, as it is taken out of context, but at least it'll give you an idea of what at least some of the book is about.

The earlier chapters are about stopping having Green Outs and bad highs, the one I'd like to make available is more about the kinds of things you can try. It will not be easy for anyone to do any of this without knowing what's gone before, so don't worry if you can't do it.lol

So, without making this into an advert, or breaking any rules, how can I let anybody who wants to see it have it easily as possible here on Oz? I'm happy to just mail out to anyone who gives me an email address or is it possible to put attachments with PM's?

Best,

MelT

I'd like to read this but I think also the overall quality of this book would depend very much on the approach you take. I'm interested in the whole greening out prevention chapter as this can be caused by a few different factors but usually the most common is not eating or drinking enough water. The other common factor being paranoia and for a lot of people this never changes and they will always green out once in a while or all the time. The only time I have "bad highs" are when there are too many people, people that make me uncomfortable or people I cant stand in general.
