Bluelab Truncheon

I bought a Bluelab truncheon secondhand and it didn't come with any conductivity solution. The website says that it needs it - where as the local hydro guy says that it is self calibrating...?

So who's correct?

if you bought the EC/CF truncheon it's self calibrating. just keep the contacts clean with a very mild abrasive (like toothpaste) now and again. if it's the bluelab pH measuring thing then you might need to calibrate it.

yeah Jimbo, its self calibrating. For cleaning, it's recommended to use PLAIN UNSCENTED Jif, once a week or so. You've probably seen this info on their site.

 

I bought mine about 6 months ago. I've used some calibrating solution once to check it and its remained spot on. Top piece of gear.

Just like blacksaint ^ said jimbo. Had mine for a couple of years and it has not missed a beat. You can check the accuracy of the truncheon against calibration solution($10-15$) for piece of mind, but really all you need to do is give the contacts on the end a wipe once a week with your clean T-shirt, as we males do, to keep it clean.

I have had 3 here at once and yes they do vary a bit learn what your plants like and go off that as if yours if off trying to give what you have been told will give you grief.

 

They self calibrate but after the same clean these 3 had 4-5 cf difference
