Intake fan size question...

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

My room is nearing its finishing stages and I am about to install the inlet fan but I'm not sure what size I will need as my setup changed a little...

The room is 1x1x2.4 by the way with a 600W HPS.

I started with the exhaust being a 150mm centrifugal and 300 filter but managed to swap it for a 250mm centrifugal and a 1000 carbon filter. I was going to use a 150mm inlet fan (passive inlets are not a option) but the store guy has said that it won't cope - that I will need a 250mm Red Spectrum inline fan for $190.

Is he trying to wring more money out of me or what?

ok jimbo

we both runnin similar areas in size

im at 1.2x1.2 x2.??

]i have a 150mm centrifugal with carbon filter as exhaust

i got a few fans so im using 2 for inlet atm

1 x the 250mm spectrum inline

and a 150mm inline too

all going full ball no breaks continuously

and i still found mould..:toke:

its my opinion that u can never have too much fresh air ..

its always handy to have a spare fan too

so id be gettin the 250 just to be safe

take care

jimbo I would tend to think the 150mm fan will be enough.

if you got a carbon filter hooked up that means smell is a concern in which case you want your exhaust to be more powerful than your inlet to create a negative pressure in the growspace and prevent any smell leaks.

the optimal ventilation arrangement is to have your inlet fan matching your extraction fan, but when you need to control smell you have to go with something less than optimal in terms of ventilation. :toke:
