Scoria

Recommended Posts

heya eternity lol .. i regularly put about 6inches of scoria in ma pots and fill the rest up with perlite, i beleive its good, as the roots get in the scoria and end up being a complete thick mass of roots... so it seems to work ok , but ive never been game enuf to fill the whole pot with rock cause i move my pots around alot and i reckon if it were just scoria it would move in the pot and break roots , as the roots get right into the rock even in the little holes in the rock..

let us know if you run on straight scoria , how it goes ... best of luck :(

I used to do the same thing frazz..

yeah scoria is fine to use.. might be a little big.,.. but it should be ok.. the bigger the rocks the more times you would have to water them... might pay to mix a little rockwool with it...

new scoria is a little powdery but a good wash should be fine.. I was told sun hardened scoria was the best.. again still needs to be washed...
