Newbie at work...

Recommended Posts

I planted 4 seeds in soil about 2 weeks ago and three of them sprouted a bout 1 week ago. since then there has been barely any growth in any of the plants in a whole week... maybe one cm at most.

Is this normal. My setup is kind of a mix of indoor/outdoor,the plants are in soil but at the moment I'm using 2 fluros about 20 cm above them.

I haven't used any nutes or anything, just light and water. Do they need more light? or more water? better soil?

any help would be great.

Urbanhog,

the stems of the plants are very long and thin, the leaves are a nice dark green, the stem is a little bit lighter.

I got the seeds from some guy in Canada, he said they were good quality seeds, they looked okay to me bar one which was cracked. They are a creamy-white color.

I don't know the exact temp but I don't think it should be a problem.

At the moment I have the fluros on all the time.

This is due to the light having been so far away, how long are the stems? Have they started to curl at the bottom yet?

They should be ok as long as you keep the light close so that they don't stretch any more, have you got a grow room organised for when they get bigger?

I have a grow area of about 0.7 by 2.0 metres and about 1.2 metres high?

Will this be high enough for fully grown plants, or can you keep them at a certain hight?

Do you know if your strain is sativa or indica dominant? As a rule of thumb indicas will double in height from the time you put them into flower until finishing, and sativas can triple in height. There are additives around that can be used to limit the growth spurt when you put them into flower.

Topping during veg stage will also help produce a smaller, bushier plant. Also you can train/tie down to help with height restrictions.

Can I keep on using fluros when they are get bigger?

you can, but HID lights are much better. But in a cabinet thats only 1.2m tall I'm not sure you have enough room for a HID without burning your plants, unless you mount the light outside the cabinet with a glass top.

Remember, keep those fluoros real close!
