There are plenty of newer import lamps around that have all sorts of claims. If it is a cheap lamp or the brand is unknown I'd stay away from it. You can't go wrong with a GE Lucagrow or Philips Son T Agro. The Sunmaster HPS are OK too, but I still prefer the other 2.

A bit more trivia, Sunmaster lamps are basically repackaged lamps from Venture Lighting. Venture lamps were used in the very early days of indoor growing and were always a cheap choice. As far as I'm concerned, their launch of the sunmaster brand was just another "marketing ploy". Lots of people went for the pretty coloured boxes with "horticulture" written all over them, but apart from the newer warm MH lamps, the rest are just repacked standard Venture lighting lamps. Nothing wrong with them, but they are nothing special. GE and Philips are much more reputable and put a lot more R&D into their products.
