Fan Selection

Recommended Posts

Merry Chrissy first off, hope you all have a great holiday!

now to the questions...

Im going to make or get myself a Carbon filter over the next month or so, but i would like to get the fan and ducting now for temp reasons, but I would like to know if i can get away with a in line fan (300L a sec) on a 300mm duct going through a carbon filter or am I going to have to go centrifugal??? im trying to keep this as cheap as possible as usual :peace:

Cheers

hi taipanboi,

I've just gone through the same situation. Researched, asked heaps of questions etc...here's the deal, from my experience.

Get yourself a centrifugal. Axial inline fans will not handle the pressure, and will cause backwash into the room. I bought a Fantech 150mm centrifugal, and a 150mm Phat carbon filter. My growroom (1.5m3) environment has now changed completely. ZERO smell, a drop in temps, and very importantly, some wicked ventilation.

I know the price sux - cost me about $400 for fan and filter - however it's money spent once. I sacrificed to buyu them, but I'm extremely happy with the choice I've made. Hope this helps, and good luck.

Oh yeah, check out some posts here on the subject, particularly stuff by Luke Skywalker. He knows his shit about this stuff, and was a great help to me.
