germination

Recommended Posts

There are varying opinions on this, but general wisdom is that it's the pointy end down.

I have done a little experiment with some bagseed and found that no matter which orientation the seed is in, the tap root will align itself to gravity and head downwards. Once the radicle has grown a short distance it then uses it's leverage to push the stem and cotyledons, (seed leaves) out of the media/soil and into the light.

So yeah, if you're concerned, go pointy end down. But really there's little difference to the plant in the end, provided it's in a good media, with good germinating conditions and is treated gently.

Hope that helps.

i have tested this as well and all i could find is that pointy end down seems to pop out abit quicker from the medium where as the seed end down will take a little bit longer but really no diff in my opinion

but that said i always now go pointy end down has always worked well for me

get some picks and start a grow dairy when they pop
