Yeah, if it's new you have little to worry about, it's just when they're old and never cleaned that you can have false readings. And this can quickly be fixed with a clean. I've got one which is coming on 4 years old now, and I've seen others which are well over 6 years and still reading true every time.

 

You seem to be on track mate, I have a feeling it was algae and other substances feeding on your nutes which could cause the drop, but that's a lot of nutes to go missing from a non-recirculated reservoir...

thanks luke not sure if it was algae but ive lightproofed the res anyway.

more i think about it i put it down to the way i was mixing the solution, will just be a bit more careful and hopefully no worries!!
