ideal temperatures in the growroom

Recommended Posts

At canopy level between 22 and 26c, The best place the min/max temp guage from is hanging the unit in canopy and the probe hanging from light shade half way between globe and plants. Maby even another temp guage measuring the temp before it enters the room.

on a 35c day you grow room will be no cooler than 35 to 40c lights on, with the biggest air flow.

If outside temp is 20c and lights on temp inside grow is above 30c you have venting problems there should only be about a 5c differance between outside temp vs inside grow temp if the air in room is being exchanged often enough every minute to 30 seconds and fan sized to the number of lights your using...

You can however modify the temp utilising evaporative air conditioning, with careful monitoring of the humidity levels. In places like Perth evaporative air con is very effective, but somewhere like Brisbane or Sydney, with much higher outdoor humidity, you may be better with an air-con of the refrigerated kind.

Any temp gauge will read incorrectly if directly exposed to light. Make sure the thermometers' sensor is protected from direct light. With good room ventilation and stirring fans you should be able to even out the temp from top to bottom to within a few degrees. There shouldn't be a spectacular stratification of the air in the growing space.

Keeping temps within a 20-30 degree range will provide reasonable results, with best practice keeping it between 22-27 degrees or so. There are many variables involved though, and a true "ideal" temp doesn't really exist. Just make sure that the room is vented at least once every 5 mins, preferably in under 1 min if possible.

There is no such thing as too much ventilation, with the possible exception of a jet-engine. :applause:

just as different strains have varying requirements in terms of nute strength the same applies to all grow conditions including lighting intensity and timing, temperature and humidity. There is no optimal temperature for all plants although it is generally accepted for most the target range is 24-27 degrees celsius.

If you want to produce a finished product as close as possible to that of the original strain you will want to mimmick the conditions the original strain was bred under as close as possible. For example the optimal temperature, humidity and light cycle settings for a European Indica would likely not be the same as for an African sativa.

with the cold on the east coast

i hace been struggling to keep my gr above 25 c

22 23degrees c is about the average

and of the night 19 c

will an oil bar heater with a thermostat be a good addition to g/r??

or will the air be too dry??

any ideas on raising temps are greatly appreciated..

take care

peace out

yep, what luke said....

just think of this.. .out doors temps reach well into there 40's... man in the scrub it canget a upto 50+ with high humidity... I wouldnt recommend keeping a constant temp at 50 tho.. but just keep that in mind... the thing is, the higher the temps get the denser the air gets.. ie.. humidity... so you can run slightly higher than normal temps if your ventalation is up to the task.. but really you should be aiming for about 30 degrees... what I am saying, if youve got it at 32-34.. its a little hot but will handle it... so its not practical to go changing your whole ventalation system for just a few degrees... obviously if its sitting closer to 40 then you will need to upsize your fan... also like luke has said, an ascolating fan in the room will help move the air around... so if your humidity is a little high then this will help too

You can use the heat generated in your room quite abit by regulating the airflow with one of those switches that will turn your exhaust fans on and off based on temp and humidty , a complete air exchange once an hr is plenty to replenish CO2 , you can also place your ballests near the inlet and place a cover over them and the inlet to try and slow the cold air flowing over them , good for the ballest and good for warming , if its too cold with lights off run a thermostat heater , also a water heater in the nute tank helps if its really cold .
