250watt MH

hi

i went into a local hydro shop the other day and i asked the guy for a 250watt swithable ballast and he told me that if i got a MH ballast i would be able to use a HPS in it aswell?

is it true?

i dont think so but i just wont to get a second opinion

Some modern ballasts can be switch to run HPS or MH.

because they didnt have any switchable ballasts i think the guy just sed that

i think ill just get a 250watt mh for vegative and a 400watt hps for flowering

I havent used a 250 mh in a while but im pretty sure the smaller ballasts fire both 150 mh / 175 hps .250 mh/hps or something like that. Im not sure if it harms the ballast etc but im sure people were doing it before. I have a dual 4/600 watt but it is hps not mh/hps. I could use a hpit globe which is a mh conversion but theres not much use. There is 1000 watt dual mh/hps ballast are about an extra 50-80$ initially but worth the bucks. yeah the guy in the shop sed that i would be able to do it so i might go in there again and get him to showme and i mite give it a try

if it doesnt work ill just get another hps ballast
