can a 600w ballast b split?

hi all i hope u r all doing well,was hopeing someone out there has a bit of electricle knowledge for i want to no if it is possible to split a 600w hps ballast and add a second plug and then run 2 250w globes only drawing 500w..is this possible if so how to do it?? and if not where can i get hold of a luca 250w ballast??in oz cheers all W.S

Im not a sparky but I read somewhere that the capacitor in a ballast is good for one ignition of one bulb.

 

Now if a 600 watt capacitor charges up and sends enough stored power to a 250 watt bulb, I think it aint gonna work no more lol and then the ballast will recharge the capacitor again and put your second bulb out of business as well. lol

 

I think Ablite are only wholesalers and dont sell to the average Joe.....well they were when I tried to buy some lights off them.

 

Your best bet is to go to a hydro shop with some cashdollars and park around the block if your a little nervous.
