Using Fungi to grow Big Buds?!!

Recommended Posts

hey there

sounds lively

yeah so my knowledge of it takes me to this...

The flowering and annual plants most often worked with round here are going to be benefited by 2 types of beneficial fungi

the one that started the topic are VAM fungi

Vesicular arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi

they are found in most of the worlds soils at varying levels and seem to have been there since .. forever. Their broad adaptation to many plant families means they stay put while the vegetation above changes over the eons, with some tweaking of the DNA

they germinate in the presence of plant roots and infect the outer layer setting up a structure called a hartig net. its an interface between plant root cells and fungal network

heres where they exchange the all important sugars, phosphates and micronutrients

why? because fungi can make its own food and because a fungal network is SO much finer than a root har can be that ithe hyphae can get inbetween tiny soil particles and humus to exude strong organic acids and enzymes to diegst and release mineral nutrients.

It cannot be overstated how critical these fungi and this process is to life on earth

Its the reason forest can grow on soils too poor for wheat

Cultivated crops on the other hand like wheat and vegetables are less dependent of these fungi. We are messy apes and have always had refuse piles, shit and piss around or dwellings and so creating a zone of artificially high loads of Urea, nitrates, phosphates and other nutrients

Cannabis itself shows its antiquity and prefrred habitat in 3 languages. Sativa

is latin used for cultivated plants, The chinese character for cannabis implies its a plant closely associated with houses (growing near) and the Urdu name means 'camp follower'. We are this plants ecology and have been for 000's of years, now we even take them inside the home.

These domesticated plants dont need the VAM as long as they have rich soil. but when the going gets tough some can still relate (not all)

the biggest advantages to the plant are in the scavenging ability of the fungi in poor soils for phosphates and micronutrients

teh presence of teh fungi does also appear to ward off some disease organsims and reduce water stress in drought

so for plants grwn in rich garden soil or in hydro thes fungi arent going to do much

where they may well shine however is in the bush and in our poor soils there

for broadcast seed or guerilla plantings thes efungi may give the edge needed to get a foothold

the innoculant comes as a powder. this could be mixed with seed, dry clay, water crystals, some rock or super phosphate to get the ball rolling,a binder and other bits as need and the lot pelleted into balls

ive seen it done with natives. the pelletised seed is broadcast down banks and ravines or into suitable areas.

the pellet protects the seed from rodents and ants and teh elements

when it rains enough the clayball swells and melts and the seeds germinate alongside some ferts and the fungi

its low tech but effective

with all the strange new laws on hydro getting the edge in bush guerilla plantings seems teh way to go

The other fungus is trichoderma

a common as muck soil fungsu thats in 90% of all these super dooper bio products

It works. teh data backs it up ( and from outside cannabis culture)

the problem is inoculum.

much of it is shit by the time it gets to teh shelf

so much so that several importers have wthdrawn from the market

the trick is to make your own. anyone that tries growing edible fungi will generate more trich as contaminants than they can use

amongst shroom growing circles its called the forest green mould (/mold)

its all here

:toke:

I do already know a bit of this , but It always helps when described sensibly (Unlike so much info these days it seems) ...

lol

Well thats all I can Muster rite now so ... Until Then ...

:)

Budman ... Out. :toke:

:)

p.s. I think Fungus is Rather Funky Aswell. {-- :yahoo: --}
