Hydro Grow Chamber

Has anyone here ever used a hydroponic grow chamber like the one on this site?http://www.medigrow.co.uk/ if so could you give me a little info on how good it is, and if it is worth the money, etc. Also could someone please explain the advantages and disadvantages of using hydroponics as opposed to regular soil growing? That system does have all the bells and whistles but you should be able to construct the same thing alot cheaper. Not sure what they construct the actual frame etc with but wood or panda plastic and frame would work.

 

To whether hydro would be better than soil is to how well you know soil or hydro . Hydro is alot quicker to grow with but first you need to find your feet... If you have some aquaculture experience you should be fine.. but if its for a first time grow your better off with what you know...stonedas

The main problem with buying the chamber would be that it is 220v, Aus uses 240v. You would be able to make a chamber like that for a lot less as well.

www.grow.com.au have chambers but yeah heaps cheaper to make your own or use a cupboard.

Thanks for the help. And as to the voltage use4d i am in the U.S. so i don't think that would be a problem. Does anyone know where i could find maybe some help on how to construct a proper chamber. I don't want to waste my time by doing things wrong so i am trying to get everything right. Thanks again.

The difference between soil and hydro is quite simple. if using soil certain nutrients may be lacking and therefore the plant will not reach its full potential, however with hydroponics all of the plants nutritional requirements are being met, hence the quicker growing and generally better final result.

Remember that a plant in soil only derives around 2% of it's wieght from the actual soil the rest is made up by water and nutrients.

Just read a book on hydroponics and you'll be fine
