A FINANCE company director charged with bestiality and animal cruelty has appeared briefly in a Sydney court today.

Brendan McMahon, 36, fronted Downing Centre Local Court today to answer more than 30 charges.

In addition to the charges of animal cruelty and bestiality, he also faces two counts of possessing cannabis.

The New Zealander, from Tamarama in Sydney's east, was arrested after the bodies of between 40 and 50 rabbits were discovered in a lane beside his city office in August.

Deputy Chief Magistrate Helen Syme continued Mr McMahon's bail and ordered him to reappear in the same court on November 10.
