Drug busts net $1.5m booty 26dec03 THE Queensland Police Service's Flying Squad has seized almost $1.5 million worth of illicit drugs including heroin, cannabis and methylamphetamine this year. Police Minister Tony McGrady today said the Flying Squad was established to tackle major crimes and serious surges in crime across Queensland. The squad has the capacity to be at the scene of any crime within a short time to investigate and help police. Drugs found at prison officer's home 23dec03 A QUEENSLAND prison officer has been suspended on full pay after drugs were allegedly found at his home. The officer, who works in a southeast Queensland jail, was charged earlier this month with three counts of possessing dangerous drugs, a Corrective Services Department spokesman said. He was remanded to appear in the Brisbane Magistrate's Court on January 22. The officer has been on annual leave and has not been on duty since police laid the charges.

A MAN and woman will face court after the discovery of more than $300,000 worth of cannabis at a house on the NSW central coast. Police said officers were following up inquiries at a home on the Pacific Highway, Gosford, after a 47-year-old man was involved in a minor collision yesterday.
