A Kinder Surprise toy egg may retail for a couple of dollars, but when adapted for an illicit purpose, the plastic novelties can sell for up to $1000, the High Court at Palmerston North was told yesterday. Detective Sergeant Sean Hansen, a former undercover drug officer and current organised crime unit detective, said the Kinder Surprise eggs were popular with drug manufacturers, who used them to store and sell cannabis or cannabis oil. A "cannabis surprise" egg usually ranged in price from $500 to $600, but could fetch a price as high as $1000, he said. Mr Hansen was giving evidence in the trial of Jason Andre Hikaka, who faces drug-related charges including, pr…

Secret military courts have handed out more than 300 drug convictions to defence personnel over a three-year period, Australian Defence Force documents obtained under Freedom of Information laws reveal. In 2003 alone, the ADF launched almost 1000 separate investigations into drug abuse by serving members, the documents reveal. The documents also warn the ADF's anti-drugs policy could fall into disrepute because civil authorities may fail to prosecute personnel who are caught with less than a "traffickable quantity of illegal drugs". Most investigations involve soldiers or sailors, with only a tiny fraction ultimately referred to civilian police, the documents show. …

Stockholm: A Swedish art exhibit featuring cannabis plants may have to be cancelled after police confiscated the plants in a drugs bust. The exhibition was to open on Saturday in the university town of Lund and titled Counterclockwise Circumambulation, was partially destroyed when police cut the plants to take them away as evidence, artist Sture Johannesson said. The plant is grown in the region for its fibres and Swedish media said Johannesson's hemp was not the type used by smokers. He could replace the plants, but said they had already begun to grow back. "They will have to come back on a regular basis to prune," he said. By TMVS Date: 07/05/04 Source: ST…

And some players can't take it fast enough. "What we wanted to do w…
