http://www.goldcoast.com.au/article/2013/10/02/459182_crime-and-court-news.html CAMPBELL Newman has offered Queenslanders a massive $5 million pool of reward money to dob in a bikie. Mr Newman will hand out lucrative rewards to people who provide information to CrimeStoppers leading to the arrest of criminal motorcycle gang members. Rewards include $1000 cash for tip-offs that lead to successful raids and $500,000 for information that results in the successful prosecution or shutdown of a criminal gang. Came out today this is an old thread…http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonkblog/files/2013/10/NewMoney.gov_.png (Source: NewMoney.gov) The government is accomplishing at least one thing today: releasing a new $100 bill! Okay, so maybe it has taken Uncle Sam more than three years to debut these new Benjamins. And maybe the printing got screwed up twice, resulting in some bills with blank spots and others with reportedly too much ink. (Those had to be destroyed.) But the new $100 bill is here now, with fancy new security features, such as an image of the Liberty Bell that appears in an inkwell and a 3D blue motion strip down the center. (See The Switch for a rund…

http://www.independentaustralia.net/2013/business/abbott-set-to-sign-secretive-tpp-agreement-this-month/ Full story ^^ Quote The TPP seeks, among other things, to rewrite the global rules on intellectual property enforcement that would give Big Media new powers to lock users out of our own content and services, provide new liabilities that might force ISPs to police our online activity, and give giant media companies even greater powers to shut down websites and remove content at will. It also encourages ISPs to block accused infringers’ Internet access, and could force ISPs to hand over our private information to big media conglomerates without appropriate privacy …

Marijuana activist and author Jack Herer was recently commemorated with a mural that now adorns the side of Venice Beach’s Nile Collective. The mural, completed by Los Angeles artistTazroc, posthumously honors the activist and author who founded the organization Help End Marijuana Prohibition. Herer’s influence on cannabis culture is so profound that he was inducted into High Time‘s Counterculture Hall of Fame. An award-winning strain was also named after him in tribute, the “Jack Herer,” a cross between Skunk #1, Haze, and Northern Lights #5. Herer even ran for United States President twice, in 1988 and 1992. Future plans for a Mitt Romneymural are unlikely.

Gunmen from the international jewelry thief network known as the Pink Panthers launched an assault last Thursday on a prison in western Switzerland that lasted just long enough for one imprisoned member and another inmate to escape. The timing of the jailbreak, just days before one of the largest diamond heists in history, raised suspicions that, just as Danny Ocean’s release from prison in Steven Soderbergh’s Ocean’s Eleven coincided with his group’s next heist, the Pink Panthers may have played a role in the theft. On Sunday, a robber wearing gloves and a scarf to mask his face walked into a diamond show at the luxury Carlton Hotel in Cannes, France, held up participant…
