Well it looks like we finally have someone to give little Johnny a run for his money, and with Mark Latham comes the possibility that 1950's drug policy may be reviewed. Now Latho will never do anything as controversial as mention drug reform in an election campaign ( would scare off too many of the mum and dad/ nan and grandad voters he needs to woo from Howard), but I reckon after he is elected he will want to condsolidate his youth vote and appease some of his more left wing labour team. ..this might mean we get the other states and territories to have the balls to follow ACT and SA's decriminalistion laws. If it's mandated federally, WA, NT, NSW QLD and TAS might fin…

Imagine for one moment that we had two races of people arrive on our shores. One is called the Alcohol Race, the other is called the Cannabis Race. Now, Alcohol proceeded to kill 3,000 plus of our people every year that it was here and hospitalised thousands more. Meanwhile, Cannabis was never recorded as having killed anyone and only sent a few people to the emergency room (and most of those were part Alcohol or one of the other races of Heroin, Cocaine, Ecstasy and GHB) Alcohol also got many of its people in the paper on a constant basis by causing disturbances, assaulting other people, driving cars when they shouldn't have been, and much, much more. The race of Ca…

It's federal election time this year and I thought I would post the policy of the Australian Greens on drugs as they seem to have the best policy for mj users out of all the federal parties in the arena. It can be viewed with better formatting via the link to the source at the end of the post, you will need to click on the "policies" tab, just under Bob's picture at the top of the page. 6. Drugs and Addiction THE AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT'S ROLE 6.1 Principles The regulation of currently illegal drugs should be moved outside the criminal framework. In a democratic society in which diversity is accepted, each person has the opportunity to achieve personal fulfilment. It …

I was just watching the ABC, and saw a show about a group of people calling themselves loosley as "hacktavists". Their actual name is "cyber hippys", and they've come up with some great stradegies for protesting. They simply bomb target companies with email, objecting to some point. They claim to have made a lot of wins, and that it's the way forward for groups to protest globally. I realise this kind of thing has been done before, but I think it was largely a shit stir, bombing companies with malicous programms that just dump loads of email to a computer to slow up their works. But these guys are targetting companies over certain issues, and encourage all their f…

The day went pretty well. It started badly with unease in the guts, just feeling it was going to be a bad day somehow, as it turned out, I was wrong. I had what was the first smoke off the white rhino, a small bud taken early and left to dry as a sample, a taster, nice, then pills. A coffee, meet Martin (a fellow patient) get tinctured up and head down to Parliament for a day at the hustings. Arrived late after a hard slog through town dropping into various offices/shops along the way. Got to Parliament about 12:30pm and started leafleting. Very Hot day, saw Hans (a staffer) from the Greens who told me that Lee Rhiannon would be asking a question of Minister Della Bosca…

What is causing despair in Indigenous communities? Petrol, Cannabis or Apartheid? Australian governments always blame some demon for causing the devastation in remote indigenous communities. This week it is petrol sniffing, last week it was cannabis. A month ago it was alcohol. The shifting of blame from cannabis to petrol has occurred after 5 youth suicides, and 8 attempts in the Anangu Pitjantjatjara lands in South Australia in the space of 3 weeks. The deaths have sparked national and international interest. Even the pope has asked after the welfare of the indigenous community. This interest has meant overtime for government spin-doctors. A blame laying frenzy ha…

The lighting of a 1 metre joint will mark the 2nd birthday of the Network Against Prohibition (NAP) in Darwin tomorrow. For 2 years, community members have campaigned against the NT Labor Governmentโs โdrug houseโ laws that allow Northern Territory police to: ๏ท Signpost a home or business with a 1.2 metre high flourescent green sign ๏ท Raid the home or business without a warrant whenever they want ๏ท Charge everyone present at the home or business with the possession of an illicit drug found at the premises ๏ท Use restraining orders to โbanโ people from the home or business ๏ท Do cavity searches on people present at the home or business ๏ท Stop and question anyone within 2…

DRUG AND ALCOHOL OFFICE 7 Field Street MT LAWLEY WA 6050 Tel: (08) 93700333 Fax: (08) 9272 6605 Dear Manager This letter has been sent to a wide range of managers of retail and supply outlets selling hydroponic equipment. On 22 March 2004, the Cannabis Control Act 2003 will come into operation. Among various changes, the Act provides that a person who sells or supplies, or offers to sell or supply to another person, any thing that the person knows will be used to cultivate prohibited plants (including cannabis) by hydroponic means commits an offence. The offence will normally be prosecuted in the court of petty sessions where a penalty of $2,000 and/or 2 years imp…

I just got a copy of Kog's book Marijuana - A Growers Lot. On the inside cover its got written: sow the seed grow the weed make the money fuck the system so what does this actually mean? I mean you can't make money if pot is legalised, so what system does Kog want to fuck? In his acknowledgements Kog actually thanks the NSW Police Force. . I guess he really is happy that MJ is illegal, otherwise how would he make his money? seems to me Kog supports the system and profits from it, and the more people that adopt this approach, the less chance we have of of getting any real drug law reform IMO.

So who is the biggest and how many are there? Can they and have they ever proposed uniting under one banner? Politics is all about strength of numbers. Party members, poll results, surveys, mass demonstrations, media coverage. It all comes down to support. GreenPeace is no good. Too many political agendas. Too bad a reputation from idiotic policies. For instance they want to ban nuclear power worldwide when CO2 gases threaten to destroy this planet and nuclear is the only serious alternative to coal. You might disagree with nuclear power yourselves but my point is that a lot of people see it differently. Every policy made alienates a section of the community. To get Marij…
