Low Stress Training in Rockwool

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

I've been looking for a way to do low stress tie down training in Rockwool Hugo cubes. The problem is there is no convenient "structure" to tie down to on the cubes, unlike growing in a pot where you can tie to the pot directly.

Anyway, I recently got a 3D printer so I've made a first attempt at designing something to meet my needs:

The basic idea is that the plastic parts and aluminium tube form a structure around the cube, with tie down points on the top plastic part. This way, I can tie down the plant to the cube and still be able to move it around to make training and defol trimming easier. Also, I usually like to transplant my seedlings into 100mm cubes that I eventually sit on the Hugo blocks, so there's a square hole on the top part that snugly fits a 100mm cube and holds it in place.

It's a bit over designed, but I'm happy how it's come out. I'll put it to use in about 8 weeks when I get my next grow going and will post some updates as I start using it.

If anyone's interested I can share the 3D files.
