Yellow spots on leaves, is there something wrong here, growth has slow

Recommended Posts

Start building up more mulch. Even just tear up some grass each time you look at them and sprinkle around daily . The more you have breaking down on top and shading that soil from sun the better this will hold a bit more moisture in that top layer and bring the goodies down to your roots without needing chemical fertiliser. You'd be suprised how much better they do if you mist a thick mulch layer twice a day in this hot weather and the micros will break down your poo faster for nitrogen and healthy roots.

Itchy might have some more advice but that's what I've found recently improved things with my outdoor

Nice looking patch mate!

Ya mulch be good as others said, don't bin any biomass unless it's a compost bin. Throw in on ground creating mulch.

I'm all about compost teas at the moment, feed that soil! Mulch will help too. Ideally both, always mulch.

Light spraying mulch a good idea too.

Lovely looking plants

Did you dig in any Dolomite or lime(gypsum is a great clay beaker) into the ground(supposed to be added 3 months before planting)? How many hours full sun do the plants get a day?

Plants look fine and healthy, normal leaf drop. You can get rid of the shade leaves when the branches get to 4+" long and can support themselves.

Add compost and mulch, give the plants a foliar feed of seaweed once a week - fortnight until bud time. Pour seaweed into the ground every week - fortnight. You can also throw some Blood and Bone at the plants.

Yep dosed the soil at prep with lots of dolomite. Will have another ph check to see if it’s gone awol!! Have top dressed with more compost, given a magnesium foliar feed and will try the seasol as a foliar application also. Thanks for the advice.

The reading I’ve been doing looks like a magnesium deficiency causing nutrient lock out. Will keep ya posted how they recover. The pics only showed a little of the problem much more leaves are affected than you can see and the plants growth have slowed for around two weeks. Hopefully onwards up and out ways from here
