Advice for a closet grow.

Recommended Posts

I'm new to hydroponics and hadn't found the hempy bucket technique yet. Looks perfect! If I'm understanding what I've found, I can use almost any size container. Wide and shallow would make good use of my limited floorspace. Looks like a cheap method with easy to find materials, great bonuses....

I'm trying hempy my next grow to see what the fuss is about. Scrog to keep the plant low and indicia so the stretch is not going to cause you issues. You can even throw a fitting on the hole in the bucket so it can drain nicely to a container beside it as once it's under the Scrog you can't move the bucket. Papa does that.

Heya check out my grows most of them have been in a small 41 x 38 x 1.6 cupboard with a CFL either an 80w phillips or my own light board with 4 x 24w CFL's

Cheers Jester. I took a quick glance and your closet thread looks like a good example for me. A lazy Sunday read for me!

Hi Veritas, I'm wondering how you went with your grow? Have you started yet or still reading. I'm about to harvest my little wardrobe set up and pretty happy with the results.

Not quite ready yet. So much reading to sift through! On the bright side, I'm visiting some US recreational states soon so I can enjoy many strains for "research purposes"!

Nice. Lucky you. I'm curious about your name. I have many of this kind. If it's what I think it is then plants are not the only thing you cut so I was wondering if you'll be visiting Canada as well for more of these items or am I totally on the wrong track? lol. And you don't have to answer if you don't want to.[emoji6]

I think the trick is with small spaces, is getting your light wattage tuned in with the area your growing in.

Like im only using approx 96w of total light, but that's perfect for that small space.

Use this online tool - http://cannaversity.com/calculators/lighting.php (If a sign in box pops up just click cancel) - to figure out what the optimal light is for your area.

like for my 400mm x 400mm x 1600mm cupboard this is the result

Your room is 1.7 squarefeet, please review the three levels of recomendation below suited to your grow room

Minimum Lighting 25 watts Per Square Foot

Lighting
The minimum recommended lighting for your area is 42.5 watts
Ventilation
The minimum flow rating of your fan should be 7.5 Cubic Feet per Minute (CFM
Power Requirements
This setup will require 0.2 amps to be available at all times for safest operation*

Optimum Lighting 40 watts Per Square Foot

Lighting
The optimum reccomended lighting for your area is 68 watts
Ventilation
For optimum ventilation the flow rating of your fan should be around 8.3 Cubic Feet per Minute
Power Requirements
This setup will require 0.4 amps to be available at all times for safest operation*

Maximum Lighting 60 watts Per Square Foot

Lighting
The maximum reccomended lighting for your area is 102 watts
Ventilation
Going this way you will require a fan with a flow rating of at least 9.8 Cubic Feet per Minute
Power Requirements
This setup will require 0.6 amps to be available at all times for safest operation*
Additional Comments
Getting to these points and or over it is highly reccomended the grower use Co2 in their room as your plants will only be able to photosythesise a certain amount of light before needing a Co2 boost to benifit

So if im on 96w that's pretty close to the max they would recommend.

I still get quite decent very smoke-able buds, they are a bit on the light and fluffy side, not as dense as you'd get with HPS or similar.
