Fimmed or topped?

Recommended Posts

ooodog,

As I've said before, I grow scrog. So the amount I top varies. For example my plant is in the centre of my netting. Therefore my growth in the middle needs to be lesser than my growth out at the edge. As my lights are suspended on a straight bar, with a bearing in the centre, they can rotate over my whole space and that means the growth is 'fairly' even over the entire room. Most of my cuttings come from the centre growth, the taller or longer growth. Once I have topped I allow the regrowth to go for about a week before turning 12/12, this gives the newly exposed tips time to adjust prior to 12/12. So it isn't a case of me topping the same length over the entire grow space. I top so the growth is even, height wise over the entire SCROG netting.

Once I turn 12/12 there is a large growth splurt which grows up thru the netting and this growth is where the buds develop.

Hope this clarifies a bit better

No worries KrippLed, That's what we're here for, a sharing of ideas.

I've always grown SCROG to maximise the use of my space.

Under normal circumstances a plant grows like a xmas tree shape ^ , but to maximise the budding tips that xmas tree ^ needs to be inverted, V

By SCROGging it I train it out like a starfish and then top it to keep all of the growth a similar height, then it all gets equal light.

I strip out all the under growth, under the SCROG net, prior to going 12/12, so all the goodness goes to the light exposed bud and not to the shitty popcorn buds underneath
