QUEENSLAND police have uncovered almost 400 mail packages containing drugs worth millions, in a national sting that has seen 31 people arrested.

A national drug crackdown targeting Australia’s postal system has laid bare Queensland’s drug crisis, with deadly substances, including ice and heroin, regularly making their way across state lines.

In total, 381 drug-filled letters and packages were uncovered by Queensland detectives during a five-day period that ended last month.

The discoveries led to the arrest of 31 people on 148 drug charges, including trafficking, production, supply and possession of a dangerous drug.

The mailroom busts and follow-up investigations saw more than $2.4 million worth of drugs seized, along with $94,000 in cash.

By comparison, the second worst state was Victoria, with 312 busts. Most other police forces found just a few dozen suspicious packages.

Details of the operation can be revealed a day after Federal Justice Minister Michael Keenan labelled Australia’s ice problem “probably the most significant” in the world.

QPS Acting Detective Superintendent Mark Slater said the operation, dubbed “Vitreus”, was a success.

Twenty-six Queensland Police Service, Australian Border Force and Australia Post officials sifted through thousands of items at the Brisbane mail centre, allowing items to be traced to senders.

Forty-six kilograms of cannabis were seized, along with 2kg of methylamphetamine, cocaine, MDMA, pharmaceuticals and steroids.

Police said that they would continue to monitor the postal service.

When the hell are governments of the world going too ...not just Australia realise drugs are being pumped into countries to destabilize them by foreign interests ,governments, politics, military, and family interests, royal families and business,

wake up sheep

Why would China or Nth Korea or Indonesia invade when they can just pump your country full of ice,

How many staged rocket fires do you need ...if you really hated someone you would aim the missile .

Wake up skippy, your already giving them your resources for less than you dig it out .

I million child ,1 child policy,

They are just preparing the way for 1 million brats  ,

There are dangerous drugs

And then, there are dangerous drugs.

And then there is a silent war under your nose.

Maybe because we have the most strategically positioned and most beautiful country in the world that hasn't totally been raped ...since 911,,,....yet unlike 92 % of the globe

We are the lucky country ?

Really Mr Keenan, maybe our generation has given up from watching ...you...and the baby boomers give this country away ,your grandparents would be rolling in there graves.

Communist party trade has feathered the pockets of Australia.

Diversity is good ;)

The postal service said they will continue to monitor the communist party and Mr Keenan for any suspicious packages

..."and the baby boomers give this country away"  I take exception to that, you generalise too much, I am a baby boomer and fucking proud of it, I did not give any part of this country away, in fact we the "boomers" got our troops back home from Vietnam and unlike you millenials and gen X and Y 's we took to the streets and protested our arses off over many stupid government policies. So please be more specific in your tardy generalisations. YES YOU HIT A NERVE! FUCKING BIG TIME!!
