Same strain, look totally different?

Recommended Posts

What they said, and the different stage of development between the 2 plants will account for at least some of it.  Another problem with these is that whilst you'd think they would be landrace, they're not unfortunately, they have been hybridised to a small degree since the original seeds were brought out of Afghanistan years ago.  It's still mostly there, but the stability of an isolated long term landrace just isn't there.  Will vary from breeder to breeder as well.  I had my heart set on some landrace Mazar-I-Sharif, but the breeder didn't release them in time :(, that would have been a true Afghani, but got a landrace from Pakistan which is close.

I'm a very big fan of Afghan and have grown a few Afghan #1's, probably from a different breeder to you though.  Mine have all had a little bit of sativa look to them, particularly the leaves, but they've all very definitely smoked up like an indica.  So don't stress, and get ready for a mellow happy buzz that settles deeply into your body.

You may find landrace strains alot easier to grow to potential than some of the more modern hybrids. Genetics have been locked in over the generations, in climates and environments other plant species could not survive in. You may find the landrace varieties more forgiving to feeding errors and in some cases, more pest and disease resilient. Don't be afraid to give any strain of cannabis a go in the grow room, as you can always source advice on that particular strain from the breeders or various 420 forums, I'm off to take a peek at your grow now, best of luck.
