Cannabis Busts QLD

Recommended Posts

It's not just QLD, same all around the country.  Problem is that numbers on paper is what career cops and politicians like to use to show how they are being tough on crime and drugs, so statistics will again be seen as the response to the frenzy over the "ice scourge".

Ice doesn't reek, it's easier to conceal, and the production cycle is short and can be packed up and moved on regularly.  Canna takes a long time to produce, is borderline impossible to move mid production, puts out a strong and distinctive smell, even a small amount is relatively easy to detect, and unlike meth is consumed by a large percentage of the population.  Add to this the extended time it remains detectable in the body and it's pretty easy to see what direction police and pollies are always going to want to go when they want to produce crime statistics.  They get a lot more bang for their buck targetting weed, so that's what they do.  They are more concerned for their careers than for the society they are meant to serve and/or protect.

This is why when the government sends us all pamphlets in the mail so we can look out for meth labs and dob them in, that the pamphlet contains a lot of exactly the same stuff that was in a canna grow house awareness pamphlet a few years back.  It's also why they are going so hard on roadside drug testing using tests that throw up false positives for canna in particular, and then sending those swabs off for more sensitive testing if the 2nd test comes back as negative (can't risk a straight driver slipping through the cracks), they know it stays in your system well after any effects have worn off, and the legislation specifically covers having it in your system rather than being "under the influence" or impaired to any degree.

Us canna users, medicinal or recreational, are the gift that keeps on giving as far as they are concerned, so be prepared for continued reaming for many years to come.  All ice does is provide an excuse for them to use the politics of fear to convince us to vote for them because they are tough on crime, and they will always be ready to back that claim up with statistics, so what motivation do they have to really do anything effective about it?

How about completely decriminalized, like almost every other plant. That way everyone is free to do whatever they want.

Hi Fordy

I think you mean legalised not decriminalized. Decriminalsed means they can still fine you and confiscate stuff off you but they cant give you a criminal record or send you to jail. Whereas legalised means that it is totally legal and unrestricted.
