Transformer issue

From everything that's been said I've got no problems trusting your info Naycha, I bought the whole thing (lighting, tent ect) as a package on eBay, so it should all be compatible at least. I'm guessing though I can't pick up a new globe at Bunnings though? Can't find any hydro shops around where I live, only one I managed to find had closed down.

an electrical wholesaler is more likely, dependant on which state you live in.

 

look on ebay for son-t bulbs in your wattage. good bang for buck

Next question on the Philips light now - they're only HPS that I can see, and it's MH that I have a problem with - are they good enough to be veging with??

In short, YES you can use HPS from start to finish. I do.

MH for grow will give a more vigorous growth with a longer distance between nodes

HPS will take a bit longer for the growth but a shorter distance between nodes. This gives me a shorter, bushier plant.

I run a SCROG and I do not need big spaces between nodes where the bud develops, so HPS does the trick for me

It also means I do not need two lighting rigs (MH and HPS) nor differing bulbs.

Cheers guys, I might just do that. Starting to wonder if the problem may be wattage related too, the MH bulb is 600w but the HPS that came with the package is 1000w. Running the same gear Otherwise, same ballast etc, so it is potentially a wattage compatibility causing the issues I'm now wondering if im supposed to have the same wattage globe to ballast wattage.

Yeah there weren't any instructions, and the transformer isn't marked with any voltage ratings that saw.

If the ballast is digital, it is possible to run a 1000w, 600w and 400w all on the one ballast providing it is a 1000w ballast.

Hope it is digital then! Should be given it was supplied with 2 different wattage lights, from a volume ebay seller only selling this stuff. And just off topic, being my first indoor grow but having done outdoor previously, I'm bloody impressed with the rate of growth even at such an early stage of life, I've got some outdoors that I planted at the same time, and with just 10 days under lights these are triple (or more) the size of those outside. Room smells pretty good too already (hope that doesn't bode badly down the track in flower, even with the charcoal filter...)
