hydroponics 4 pot dutch kit

Recommended Posts

what strength are you feeding them? if you have given them a good flush give them a light feed of around 200ppm, check the ppm daily to see if they are eating, if they are ppm will drop and that is good, if they are dropping you can increase your ppms daily in around 100ppm intervals until you reach the sweet spot where the ppm neither drops or rises, if your ppms are rising the plants are overfed.

just put your nutes in at 5.5 and let them drift up naturally until they hit 6.5 then bring them back down again.

this is a recircualting system isnt it? so how long o you run the drippers for and how often?

funny thing is i havent seen them feed for a while now maybe its because im feeding at 0.8 to 1 ec straight after the flush maybe its too strong . i will feed them at around 200ppm tomorow and moniter it from then. yeah its a recircualting  system i run drippers for 15 min every hour and half.

i would also try running the drippers a little more regularly, about half hr on and 1 hr off should work well. i know your worried about the rockwool etc getting too wet but you dont really want the hydroton becoming too dry between cycles because it will cause excess salt build up and possibly lockouts, i personally run my hydroton rocks with constant feed so no breaks just constant flow of water but depending on your pump and res size etc that can cause issues with heat in the res so i dont really recommend it to people but it certainly works you cant overwater in hydroton.

hey cheers for the feed back. tomorow morning i will put back on very light nutes and wait for them to eat and i will also put the  pump on a bit longer. i used to run my pumps 24/ 7 until last year when i got root rot probley heated the water up to much. my resi is only 40litres and pump is big so will problely heat up to quickly. cheers for the help

Have you checked your roots?

Never seen Dutch Bato setup, but my vague understanding is that they are basically a glorified recirculating Hempy bucket system fed by drippers, please correct me if I'm wrong.  A possibility that occurs to me is that if the nutes in the bottom of the buckets aren't circulated thoroughly and regularly, particularly in a recirculating system, that this could provide a good environment for root rot to develop.  Just wondering if removing the drippers and increasing the flow of nutes when the pump is running (basically running it like a basic recirc) would improve the ability of the system to effectively flush the bottom of the buckets out?  Might be worth chucking an air pump in your res if you haven't already, and keeping an eye on res temps.

Hope you can get on top of this and get yourself back into a decent stash.
