3 plants 3 problems? with pics

Recommended Posts

Ok gets ya pens n pads out folks, winning tips cumn right up! So when using coco, if ya getting a bit sus on salt build up, simply test ya run off ec. Ph, oh the importance of ph, you can really give ya plants the best nutes and every additive ya can find, worng ph and ya straight up wasting ya time and nutes. Anything above 6.0 you will lock out K, Fe and B. Anything lower than 5.8 and ull miss out on Ca and Mn, just sayin... As for flushing, test ya runoff. Cant really say that a large deposit of salt is easily removed as a small amount, and 20% aint always gunna cut it. Myself, i do a 2 step flush in the shower. 1st lot is to disolve the salts and ill give it a few mins then ill go hit it again to chase out any remaining salts. Hope this helps and gets ya goin, cheers KB.

Plants in coco need about half a point higher ph than standard hydroponics for optimal growth.  Since I'm lazy just imagine that all the numbers on the left are 0.5 higher in this pic.

What most of the ph charts fail to mention is that the ph drifts as nutrients are used up and how this interaction takes place.  I went mental checking my ph and found out that phosphorus (P) when added to a nutrient solution will raise the ph and when its used by the plant will lower the ph.  During certain times like flower when the need for P is greatest you must feed the plants MUCH higher than the normal recommended ph so it can actually get all the P the plant needs.  If you start too low you will definitely lock it out early but if you start high and the plant gets its fill the lockout will never be an issue as you'll top both the nutes and ph back up soon enough.  Seriously run a plant at 6.3 in vege and 6.8 in flower.  Don't flush the coco once until a week or so before harvest and feed the plant 1/4 strength nutes at the same ph's instead of plain water as needed.  Do it with a control plant right next to it that you have grown before and know inside and out and I'd wager anything on your entire next crop being run at the higher ph.  I'd honestly recommend even higher ph's to water at because I myself was watering at 6.5 in vege and 7.0 in flower as I shut down but I barely got into flowering so don't know how that would have ended.  All things considered though they were the best looking plants I had ever grown so I imagine the harvest would have been similarly good.....gulp, them feels  :crybaby:
