Midge's in my tent

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have tiny little flying insects in my tent, there aren't heaps of them but Im worried that if I leave it there will be after a while. I assume they are midge's but could be wrong.

I have put up some sticky traps but they haven't been effective as yet. Any idea of what I should try? Preferably something available off the shelf at a hydro shop.

Thanks!

As far as pesticides go, it's pretty well the most organic and safe to use product to try. Deals well with a good array of little critters.

Oh and it's household ingredients you likely already have.

I haven't had a single critter in my last 5 grows now because I keep my grow room sterile and have mesh on intake vents.... nothing worse than trying to get bugs off ya buds!

Perfect, I'll give it a go. Can't beat that price.

What mesh do you put on the intake vents?

Well the mesh size depends on the surface area of the intake vent vs the flow your trying to pull through it.

Ideally one would use no-see-um mesh like used in camping tents however that's quite restrictive unless you have a large surface area.

Flyscreen size is the minimum (maxium) hole size i'd use.

Sounds like gnats to me.

I went to a hydro store and they thought it was gnats too. They gave me some expensive powder to mix in next time I water, I am going to let everything dry out a bit then give it a go but if they came once I guess they will keep coming back.

Should I put something over my intake? Its just your standard fly screen tent intake..

Hey ddjones , the fly screen wont really stop em as they squeeze through . I have double layer fly screen and found a few trapped between layers last year .

This year i sprayed the fly screen with a 6month surface spray so if the little buggers want to squeeze in they can cope that shit .

I have not seen 1 gnate this year but used myco apply max to inoculate the coco . So dont know if he fly spray helped or if the myco apply is doing its thing in the coco stopping the breeding .

Either way usually by this time of my grow  i am in battle with gnates and this year have not seen any .
