Critters in the back yard

Cool animals to have wandering around your place but how dangerous do they get when large.  The biggest critters we have hanging around here are my 2 dogs/best mates.  They are great dane cross english mastiff but not as big as your critters.

Never seen one of these critters in the yard or before. Any ideas, it seems very young and lost.

Hmmm, having a bit of trouble with the ident... is that camera flash making the eye look so red/orange?

 

ATM I'd say either a young Nankeen night heron or an immature Little Bittern.

Thx for tryin to help id this feathered friend Louise. My first thought was some kind of stork but we dont have many of them downunder when i myself tried to id it on net.

 

Im colour blind myself but did notice its striking eyes before i went for camera so id say its not the flash doing it.

 

it was early morning so il check out the nankeen n herron and little bittern some more.

Id say it was a bittern. It had a hum to it when i approached and did what they call a booming sound. Quite a rare find and stoked to spot one in my front yard....
