1st grow evar thread - hydro, autopot, tent and autoflowers

Recommended Posts

Hiya Schmeg :D

a couple of things that I gleaned from your diary so far.  I'll preface though by saying I am by no means an expert and I was right where you are jus over a year ago re growing cannabis.

1. You are in very big pots for seedlings.  They are about 15L (soz, gotta change it in my head lol )

2. Like Naycha, I'm not familiar with growstones but they look kinda cool-I noticed that they should be 'prepped' ?  Flush before use or is that the calmag?

3. 64 oz  is nearly 2L of drink and thats alot of water for babies, so we have 15L pots and a couple of waterings of 2L which is too much imo

Frank and SPH are on the money there with suggesting that you ease the watering until they get some root action happening- you'll be able to tell that they want to grow you'll jus know by the way they perk up and seem brisk and vigorous.  Oh, and buzzzo pumps out the autos-you should really study his posts.

4.  I didn't catch what nutrients you are going to be using but with photo plants I usually star at 1/4 strength and see how they react.  again check professor autoflower I would be if I was growing them :good:

I think Frank mentioned in a post that I read that they show their likes or distaste for the regime in a couple of days, again patience and you will be able to tell.  Man I am the slowest on seedlings and I always wonder how some growers seem to have em to like 100mm in a week or some crazy stuff but just do you thing that stuff will come later and it ain't how fast we get them to full strength feed size that counts even though ya gotta keep them going with autos I realise-its tough I wanna rush em too but must temper myself lol

Try to let them dry as much as you can feel comfortable and then maybe 1/2 cup (120 ml or so) of 1/4 strentgth A+B of you choosing.  If they are drinking they will have it done pretty quickly (maybe 2-3 days at that size?) and you may observe thei stance and demeanor-if they look happy you can give them the same again or as I suspect with autoflowering strains, up the nutes.  I'd take it to half stregth...see how they go and repeat until ya max them out or go again the same.  When watering them an excellent grower gave me a tip to just water around the base of the stem at the beginning (cheers Naych) in other words like frank and SpH mentioned you don't need to flood the pots-yet. When it happens they will start going through waay more in a day than you have fed them in a week lol  couple sets more of leaves and they will want to grow so bad.  by this time you may be right about to max out on the nutrients and there you go lol

Hopefully pots full of roots and vigorous keen plants ready to show you their stuff

Please check out the autoflower threads though and have a decent squiz cos it is high performance growing when ya got it right man-check some of the pics.

Other than that, Peruse the coco ladies Louise and Matti, 'Nibs Frankie man there are so many but I know you will grow some awesom cannabis schmeg, it a steep learning curve  in summer and with autoflowers but you'll be sweet I know it.  I really hope this assist you and if I've made any blunders the community will straighten them out but thats pretty much the way I would approach it.  you are gonna have a ball!

peace and good growing schmeg. Faith :sun:

Hey nibbs,

When referring to an inert medium I was referring to it's ability to hold on to specific chemicals etc, as coco has an affinity to certain elemnts over others, it will hold onto them and is why a) run to waste feeding is most reccomended for coco and B ) testing ph of runoff is not a way to find out the actual ph of rhizosphere.

Now the benefits of the auto pot system may be lost using a coco substrate seeing as he will ahve to still flush often (maybe even more so) do to above reason of coco holding onto some elements and without a run to waste system without heaps of flushes this may turn into toxic amounts therefor harming the plants.

Now the above is why i'd reccomend a perlite/vermiculite mix for auto pot system, after all it is what is supplied with the real version as a starter medium. Flushes are still reccomended but are needed farther and fewer between

Do you know which elements coco has an affinity for? Ive heard this before, but haven't been able to find anything concrete
