1st grow evar thread - hydro, autopot, tent and autoflowers

Hate to be a downer so early into the day but you'll want to replace that growlush fan.  I literally (15 mins ago) just binned the 250mm version of that fan for being a weak piece of crap that wouldn't be able to properly handle a single 600w light on its own during summer.  You might get lucky and get a week or two of good use out of it but I assure you that when summer decides to kick into high gear you'll want to upgrade to a better 

Agreed! Get yeself a decent centrifugal fan.

contradictory info out there but don't get disheartened, as frank an Vape be saying, each grow and grow space are different so you just gotta try ye best until ye find ya flow.... The best of luck fella!

Thanks everyone for the feedback.  But I got what I got coz my local hydro shop guy recommended the THC brand nutes.  He did have some Canna products as well but recommended that blend over it even tho the price of the Canna stuff was triple the price. 

 

The medium I got from the store was Phat Cocos premium buffered cal and mag enriched and "Growstones" (the large ones).  I got a couple Airdomes on the way for the bottom of the Autopots to feed O2 to the roots so I was going to put 2 inches of large Growstones at the bottom to cover the airdome then a blend of 70/30 Coco/Perlite for the top.  He also recommended some stuff called "Rockaust" or rock dust.  He said put a handful in my mix and sprinkle a handful on top.  It's some local Aussie stuff from Munash.

 

I just gots to go with what I got to get a quick med stash in that will last me while I do a proper 2nd grow.  I hope yous all can appreciate that.  Believe me, I'm reading and researching all that I can take in but I won't learn proper unless I do it and gain experience.

 

Now, how do I setup this cooltube?  Carbon filter > duct > Cooltube > Growlush Fan > Intake Duct?  Do I want this fan blowing thru the cooltube to the carbon filter?  Or is it the other way around?  Sucking thru the carbon filter and blowing out the cooltube?  Problem I'm having is that some of these white duct adapters don't fit at all on any of the tube outlets or carbon filter or growlush fan.  Do I just aluminum tape them together?  How do I assemble all these fan, duct, adapters, cooltube and carbon filters together?  I'm pretty damn well DIY challenged at the moment and the back, neck, shoulder and arm pain limits my abilities further.

hey mate,

 

first of all don't bother with the rock dust, it is just trace minerals and possibly some added heavy metals :s your base coco nutes will possess all the macro/micro nutes you need.

 

in regards to fans etc, I personally have two fans when running cooltube, small 150mm mixflow fan for cooltube, which is PUSHING air through cooltube.

 

for filter I have a 125mm centrifugal fan PULLING air through the filter to outside the tent.

 

but if you wanted to connect em all up to a same fan I would go

 

FILTER--> DUCTING-> COOLTUBE-> DUCTING-> FAN ->

What kind of fan are you getting to replace it?  I tested mine out today with the light and it's pretty damn weak.  What centrifugal 6 inch fan would you recommend that's more powerful and quiet as well?

For fans I got 'can' branded fans, i've got a 125mm centri doing a 1.2x12x2m tent just fine

Here's what I've done so far with the grow robe. Not sure this is the optimal setup. The fan is pulling from the CF and blowing thru the tube. Haven't figured out an exhaust solution yet.  Should I run some duct up and out the top of the robe door?

 

Maybe I should reverse the airflow to have it pull cool air from outside the robe thru the tube and out the Carbon Filter?

 

Damn, I'm dying to crack open a bean!

Hey mate that's almost an ideal setup, you may find higher temps in your room due to exhausting air from the floor,it may not prove to be a problem but a good thong to consider if you do run into higher temps.

 

best thing is to run everything overnight to get some temp readings now, withought any plants

yep almost spot on.. just hang your CF..to extract hot(soon to be smelly) air from the ceiling and vent your exhaust outside your

 

room.. and your ready to rock and roll..  good work.. get cracking!!

The fan is pushing up from the CF thru the ducting thru the cooltube with nothing.  So from the CF on the right, the airflow is going up the duct thru the tube and that fan does suck (literally) it doesn't seem to make a dent in the heat that I can feel.  Not sure how I can hang that CF up any higher off the ground.

Looking good matey! Great work so far

As said above, try to hang thy CF up high. Couple of hooks in the ceiling of ye drobe and use bungee straps to hang it horizontally. Be a piece of cake and it'll pull all thy heat (heat rises)an smell in the air ou'ta ya space. Put ye outlet up top too.
