Ok mate, now the lamp holder ya using, does it say maximum wattage 40w? or was that just the globe that came out of it?

The adapter does allow you to use the e40 type globes in a smaller house hold sized fitting. Its a CFL, not a spotlight or something, so wont be drawing heaps of Amps.

Its the Globe that usually is the resistance point, not the fitting.

But first lets get some details of the lamp holder your using.......

Peace. Nibbler.

The only thing stopping you using that holder is if the ventilation holes on the 130w CFL sit inside that cover.  Then it would get too hot.

You dont need a ceramic fitting for a CFL, just one where the globe body is outside the holder so it cools properly.

Now you have the adapter you could go to bummings, they should have a standard screw in holder like for the normal CFL with a lead on it.

Just use your adapter on that.

The 40w rating for that holder is just the recommended bulb type to be inside that housing so it doesnt overheat.

I think the point is that you want to use a 130 watt cfl. Which on the box it is stated they are equivilant to a 600 watt lamp. That does not mean they use 600 watts. 130 watts is 130 watts.

You can do/use anything you like. But come the insurance inspection after the fire damage, you will be in some pretty deep shit.

Nothing wrong with Katts reply either. Was to the point and correct.
