drip system Question

Hey Aristo,

Years ago I started small (1x400w) in a tent I made from panda plastic and built up from there. It's much better to learn the simplest way (small) then expand. I know of people who spent $$$$, but didn't get their systems right and gave up. I've learnt by trial and error and error and er.......... For my needs, the systems I have and use now are right for me. There ain't nothing '...that complex...' about that system, believe me lol .  If it's too complex there are too many things that can 'cock up'. I like the K.I.S.S. theory. "Keep It Simple Stupid" lol

When I started I was unaware of OzStoners and the net was pretty new, but for anybody starting out now there is loads of info out there and if you can't find it all you need to do is ask.

You don't have to do all the 'error and error.........' bit. Ask and learn from us silly buggas who did it the hard way. Much easier and a shitload less cost.

There are some people who will make out they know it all. I'll tell you now, I don't know everything. But I do know what works for my system and if any of my knowledge can assist you, then ask. I don't have all the answers but If I'm unsure or don't know I'll tell you so or I may direct you to where you can find the info you are looking for.

Good luck with it all

Hey Aristo,

Well at least you've made a start, that's a bonus. And Hey, basic is the best place to start. Learn then develop.

As you are finding slowly does it, those clones are way too young to be feeding nutes. Look at it this way, would you feed a newborn baby a fillet steak? No. So why feed a youngster full on nutes? You say you are using clones. When I take clones from my plants I place the cuttings in a saturated Rockwool cube. I soak the cubes in a 1/2 strength, pH adjusted nute mix. Then take the cutting, dip it in clonex, then place it in the cube. Then place the cube in an esky, under a  incandescent light (24hr for a week then 18/6 timer) and not HID. IMHO HID is just too much, even if the original cutting came from under HID. Now others here will say 'Nah, you don't need to do that. Just go HID from start to finish) Again its a baby, would you leave a newborn baby out in the sun on a 30-40 degree day, of course not. You need to nurture it a bit more first, I wait until the roots are showing thru the bottom of the rockwool cube and not just 2-3 roots but I leave them until the base of the cube is almost completely white with roots, I feed only when the top of the cube is dry, feeding it water one day 1/2 strength pH adjusted nutes the next feed. Then I plant in perlite under HID 2 x 600 for a week then  4 x 600, upping the nute mix. Feeding 15 min/hr

Another bit of advice, I notice your hoses are a clear plastic. This will be allowing the light to come in contact with your nutrient, this will cause algae to grow in you nute mix. All of my setup is black, black pots, black tubs, and black tubing and no light coming in contact with my nutes. When you just start a grow and the clone is small, (and in my case a 50ltr pot) the fluid inevitably comes in contact with the light. I have, in the past made up a shroud  to cover the perlite but leaving a hole for the clone to get light, but it was a lot of pissin around cos once the plant gets big enough it covers the perlite anyway and the algae dies.

But clear plastic aint great eh?

Good luck with it and keep us posted

Why?? Come and ask questions first. Get some knowledge from people who know. If you are having problems there is a 90% chance someone here has had the same difficulties and learnt how to manage it

Are you running a 'run to waste' system or recirc? I've heard that most people do a run to waste using coco and not recirc

But use the resources you have available, like...........................US!!!

Ask questions, someone will answer you but ASK!! its cheaper to ask than to cock up and start again. lol
