Optimum drying temp.

Recommended Posts

Okay, bit of a discussion going on here as to optimum drying temp.

I say 18° Celsius, max of 22°. Couldn't be bothered scouring topics for an answer, but if I am wrong, please correct me.

Kinda cold down here, so I hooked up a 1500w heater to a thermal controller to maintain constant room temp. Set the controller to 18°, kicks in and goes off 2° either side of the mark, but just curious as to what others consider an optimum temp.

i really never even put much thought into it? i dont bother trying to control temp or humidity i just provide airflow and hope for the best ;) slower is better though IMO and i have got my drying down to 2-3 week process and the results have been spectacular. i would guess i average inbetween 18 -30 degrees normally though depending on season. but i suppose if slower is better perhaps lower temps would be better?

Think I read somewhere that THC(or maybe it was terpenes) starts to break down at temps over 26 deg C. 18 - 22 would seem safe IMO

I spose ideally it would dry as slowly as possible to maximise flavour, yet not so slow as to allow mould to develop.

I enjoy growing but find drying and curing to be a real pain. Have been thinking about getting some of those temp/humidity monitors for the cure jars just to take the guesswork out of it.

Makes sense that 26 would begin the degradation process, THC is a terpene so yeah...

the easiest option is to buy humidity beads. thy are designed to keep cigar humidors at the proper humidity. you can order exactly the percentage humidity you want and put them in your jar it will keep the humidity stable exactly where you want it
